The inaugural Festival Internazionale del Musical (International Festival of Musical Theater), a global celebration showcasing the creativity of the world’s most talented contemporary musical theater artists and productions, will launch in Milan, Italy in the summer of 2022 .
Academy and Tony Award winner Whoopi goldberg is featured in a special video showcasing the Festival, with appearances by the Tony Award winner Ben vereen and musical theater stars from around the world performing the iconic song “Magic to Do” from the Grammy Award-winning musical Pippin by Academy Stephen schwartz. For the inaugural festival, several acclaimed musical productions will be invited to perform at leading theaters in Milan and the Lombardy region for a two-week period in the summer of 2022. The festival will include a gala event, highlighting featured artists and presenters honoring a lifetime’s work. Award recipient. The winner will be announced in fall 2021.
