Joy as musical theater returns to Gorey this week

MUSICAL THEATER returns to Gorey this week with “Title of Show” directed by Stephen Acton and Conor McCarthy as Music Director.

t stars Jeff (played by James Dobbs of New Ross) and Hunter (played by Richard O’Toole of Carnew) as two struggling writers who create a musical with a little help from their friends.

Mr Acton said the musical is for those who love musical theater but also those who don’t.

“It’s not your standard show, because it’s wacky and abstract and certainly doesn’t take itself seriously. It’s a show within a show, so anyone who has been involved in theater or has done a show before will get that show completely. It’s a farce and just pure entertainment, so people who need that escape and a little relief, they’ll have it with this show for an hour and a half ”.

Interestingly, the Music Director will perform on stage as a separate character as the actors try to prove that a show can be put on with four chairs and a piano.

“This show is all about bringing it back to what makes theater. We started this project about a year ago and unfortunately had to stop working on it due to the lockdown restrictions. We took Zoom back this year and once. the restrictions lifted, we were able to have the workshop and start rehearsals.

“The cast is fantastic and the cast was made for their roles, especially musical theater student Caoimhe Boyle from South Wexford and Maria Forrest playing her first lead role.

“Each of us enjoyed going back to it and it was such a relief for us, it was almost like therapy, so we went all out.”

It should be noted that some aspects of the show contain strong language.

The show takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Gorey Little Theater and tickets for € 15 are available at

It should be noted that you will need to present proof of vaccination or recovery from Covid-19 to attend the show.
